We used "The Napping House" book to introduce the "triangle" theme. I gave the children a large square and triangle paper. Then put it together to make a house, using the square as the base and the triangle as the roof. They placed their houses in front of them, as I read "The Napping House". As I read about each character in the story, they placed that character on their house, stacking them up as we went through the story.
We also made a triangle penguin. A large triangle is placed down first, on top of that one we placed a smaller white triangle for the penguin's tummy (with about 1/2 inch of black showing around the edges). Use small triangle shapes for the beak (orange) and feet (yellow). We also put small, long, yellow triangles around the face to resemble the rock-hopper penguin. We used eye-stickers for the eyes.
